Ducati 1098

The 1098 Ducati is the one we have all been waiting for since the sheets were pulled off the original 916.  The 1098 is everything you would expect from Ducati, the companies racing heritage shining through the deep paintwork.  The 1098 is, in my opinion, the nicest looking bike on the market currently, and possibly one of the best sports bikes on the road.

The name is 1098, but was nearly the 1099.  The guys at Ducati decided against the latter for 2 reasons.  1099 is also the number of an American tax form, and they also wanted to distance this new bike from the (slight) failure of the 749/999 series.  They wanted to be closer to the 998, as the 1098 has more in common with the older bike.
